Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

In an update of Naomi Quenk's classic, Beside Ourselves, this newly titled and revised edition Was That Really Me? further explores what we keep hidden within but reveal when stressed. Outlining the stress patterns of 16 personality types using the framework of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator "RM," this new edition includes startling information on work-related stress and long-term stress, and includes new case examples and simpler explanations of personality type concepts.

Book News Annotation:

This volume is a revised edition of Quenk's 1993 Beside Ourselves (also by Davies-Black). Quenk, a psychologist, employs Jungian theory and the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator personality inventory to discuss behaviors under stress for different personality types. Following a description of Jungian typology and the effects and dynamics of hidden personality, the behavior during interactions with others of the 16 personality types are described (the types are defined in an appendix). The text is designed for trainers and others who employ the Meyers-Briggs test.
