Joe Cocker said it all..... "I Get By with a Little Help from my Friends". And I suppose I should credit the Fab Four as well.

However, The Foxy Old Woman's Guide to Living with Friends is certainly not the wise words of the testosterone crowd but that of a fellow estroginite. Women, regardless of former relational status, will spend more of their later years solo and thus the need to consider alternative modes of aging. Female baby boomers will not go gently into the night - We're not docile enough to be warehoused, well-behaved enough to be adopted by our exasperated children nor blessed with the financial where-with-all to meet extended senior years on our own. (Even those of us who prepared well, thanks to the present economy and never-ending escalations in health-care costs and the like). Not content to marry in later life for security, many of us will choose to hoof it alone. Which is where Cary's timely book fills an evident void. WHAT IF we pool our resources, our talents, our gifts? what if we recognize the strength in numbers/the value of community? Explore the options and build on them with a core of friends you already know or venture into the world of finding other women who are traveling a similar path. This book provides the inspiration/the guidelines - take it and run! It could be the most rewarding race of your life!
