Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

A charming story that combines a love of garlic with an extraordinary life, this is a college teacher turned Sonoma County garlic farmer's account of his introduction to the herb—from his family's farming techniques in former Soviet Georgia to his experiences supplying some of the best restaurants in the country. Growing tips and recipes are included, as well as close-up photos of a few of Chester's rare varieties.

This is a lovely, short book, part memoir, part 'How to grow it' and part cookbook and all of it a love story: The love of Garlic. Chester Aaron has done a lot of research into Garlic and he shares his finds of different types of Garlic and their flavors and how they are best used. I never knew you could eat Garlic scapes and he gives some uses and recipes along with other recipes for various Garlic varieties.
It is a wonderful read!

I don't usually read memoirs, however, Mr Aaron is such a wonderful writer that I had a hard time putting this one down. He is funny and very knowledgeable and this is a great read!
