Oregon Atlas & Gazetteerby Delorme
Synopses & Reviews
DeLorme's Atlas and Gazetteer Series is America's most popular line of recreational maps! Each atlas covers an individual state in its entirety with detailed, full-color topographic maps. Detail includes back roads, hidden lakes, boat ramps, hiking trails, campgrounds, public lands, forests, wetlands and more. And, the Gazetteer sections feature page after page of information on places to go and things to do. These atlases are year-round favorites with outdoors enthusiasts and anyone who likes to leave the main roads behind.
Book News Annotation:
The 16th of DeLorme's great and ingenious state atlases. They've begun with USGS topographic maps, reduced these from ca. 1 inch: 1 mile to about 1 inch: 2.4 miles, retaining the forest overlay, roads, trails, cultural feature. DeLorme has added boat ramps, fish species in selected waters, activities at various sites (camping, swimming, biking). 11x151/2". The main fault is the lack of a 20x14" map of the full state (the index map is a small 10"x7". A magnificent project we'll watch with delight and impatience (when Colo?, when Wyo?).
