One of the most directly helpful books on the subject of loss ever written, the first edition of this comforting and inspiring book, published in 1976, sold nearly two million copies. This completely revised and expanded edition encompasses not only the medical and psychological advances in the treatment of loss, but also the authors' own experiences.

Spinning out of control and mired in self-desctruction from being dumped by the love of my life, I turned to this book which, literally, saved my life. Page by page, and healing step by step, I read the words by someone who (who could ever???) knew exactly what I was going through. The poems opposite the simple survival and recovery instructions seemed to come from my own mind! Progress through the pages took me caringly through the process of healing, finally bringing me to the realization that I would survive.
This book was given to me by my psychologist aunt when I was dumped more than 20 years ago and is right now saving the life of my son who is just today beginning to believe that he might survive being dumped by the "love of his life."
The "go to" book when immediate healing of a broken heart is needed!

My counselor gave me this book when I was going through the process of recovering from a divorce. I leaned on it heavily and found much help, understanding and solace there.
I highly recommended this book regardless of the nature of your loss!
