Publisher Comments:

Set in the California hills and spanning over a hundred years, this story revolves around Grandaddy Jake — 99 years old and a belligerent unreformed gambler, Tiny — adopted by Jake and a gentle giant, and Fup — an uncompromising 20-pound mallard whose presence enforces order in the household.

This is 95 pages of pure reading pleasure. Good enough to name a cat after it; need I say more? Fup has a near-mythic standing; it's a mystery that it's out of print. Find a used copy (perfect through Powell's!)and treasure it. One of the most-stolen books in modern history.
