Alec: After the Snooterby Eddie Campbell
Synopses & Reviews
Alec is a brilliant and insightful romp through Eddie Campbell's own life, and it represents one of the best — and first! — works in the autobiographical-comics genre. In it, we witness Eddie's progression from "beer to wine," or to put it more accurately, his inevitable maturation through time. Whether it's tales of his early pub-crawlin' days, or glimpses into his current private life with "wifey" and kids, there are "truths" here that transcend the factual and paint a picture of the way life should be.
"Idiosyncratic and expertly rendered, his art insinuates its way into readers' memories." Publishers Weekly
"If he relies on text more than most comics masters, his running narration always complements his drawings. His work exemplifies the comics medium at its best." Booklist
"Eddie's 'Alec' stories are probably about as good as comics ever get." Neil Gaiman
About the Author
Eddie Campbell is the illustrator and publisher of the enormously successful graphic novel From Hell, the gripping piece of crime fiction about Jack the Ripper that details the course of events that led up to the White Chapel Murders. Recently released as a major motion picture from 20th Century Fox, and starring Johnny Depp and Heather Graham, the notoriety brought by From Hell has now shed more light on his extremely noteworthy and critically acclaimed Alec books.
