Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

The award-winning, bestselling children's book is now available as a video, narrated by the nationally-known Mary McDonald-Lewis. In this modern-day fable, a woman who has suffered a terrible loss cooks up a special batch of "tear soup, " blending the unique ingredients of her life into the grief process. Along the way she dispenses a recipe of sound advice for people who are in mourning or know someone who has suffered a loss. The video was created by filming the richly-illustrated pages from the book and adding narration and an original score. Together these two resources present a profound message in a sublime way for children, as well as people of all ages. The video provides a new way to offer the helpful messages of "Tear Soup to those who have suffered a loss. An appendix in the book contains a helpful listing of grief support groups for a variety of situations. Grief counselors and ministers of many denominations have found "Tear Soup a helpful book for those in the first stages of mourning.

An appendix contains a helpful listing of grief support groups for a variety of situations.

We found this book when our granddaughter died. It helped us a lot. We liked it because the ideas were simply presented. It's a "How to Grieve" book, but you aren't bogged down by a lot of text. Another advantage is that it appeals to all ages. I can't count the number of copies our family has bought since to give to others who are grieving. It's a great recipe for helping you deal with your grief.
