Publisher Comments:

Ask one hundred people who know Portland, Oregon, to name what they like best about the city, and you are likely to get one hundred different answers: The breathtaking natural scenery. The friendly people. The diverse cultural offerings. The world-class shops and restaurants. The architecture, transportation systems, and great urban design. All of these qualities (and many more) led Men's Journal magazine to proclaim Portland as "the best place to live in the United States."

Portland, difficult as it is to capture in words, comes alive in the photographs of Robert Reynolds. Reynolds went to every corner of the city (and flew above it in a helicopter) to capture these unique, colorful, and iconic images. As a result, Portland: The View From Here paints a contemporary yet timeless portrait of America's most livable city.

Synopsis:

This contemporary book reflects a vibrant, energetic and growing Portland. Emphasis on the arts, architecture, and a lifestyle of participation — rather than simply that of the spectator. Samples of Portland images include interior/exterior structures, art museum, performing arts, visual arts, houses of education, neighborhoods, parks, libraries, transportation, physical activities, fountains/sculpture, annual city events, and city nightlife.
