Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

Stone Soup is funny, irreverent, sympathetic — and read by more than 7 million people every day. The all-too-real humor mirrors much of today's family life while cheering us on. Stone Soup tells the story of a blended-by-necessity family, starring two sisters, Val and Joan, who share their house with Val's saughters Holly and Alix, Joan's toddler Max, Gramma who lives upstairs, and the "active breed" family dog. It's a household of barely controlled chaos. Wally, the ultimate guy next door, Officer Jackson the motorcycle cop, and a variety of neighbors and friends round out the cast.

Working-parent hassles, the terrible twos, middle-school angst, love and the sindle mom — it's all here in Stone Soup. Enjoy!

Review:

"Elliot doesn't sugar-coat the problems her characters face. She reflects our culture and contemporary family life in a way that is very wise, but very funny." Roz Warren, editor of The Best Contemporary Women's Humor

Review:

"Stone Soup is a bright, funny, and timely strip that captures reality...in a meaningful, contemporary way." The Oregonian

About the Author

Stone Soup is a comic-strip based on my own experiences as a single mom. I create characters and situations out of what happens in the world around me, hoping for authenticity that will strike home with my readers. Jan Elliot began as an overworked single mom and became a talented cartoonist. Jan's work enhances the lives of comic-loving families everywhere.
