Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

Rich with humor and natural history, this memoir of building a log cabin in the wilds of Oregon's Coast Range takes readers to a warm world of kerosene lamplight, wood stoves, and ghost stories. Written by a finalist for the Oregon Book Award in creative nonfiction, Cabin Fever recounts 25 summers of back-to-the-earth adventure — and also solves a murder mystery that had haunted the author's roadless homestead.

I just completed this book and really enjoyed it. It is an adventure story, a wilderness guide, a how-to on cabin building and a warm family story all in one. Bill Sullivan knows Oregon well and this book shows where he built that knowledge base. Highly recommend this quick read, full of fun and warmth by an author who is very familiar with his subject matter. It's a hoot!
