Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

Eight stories and eight cards to help you say, "I hate you." Remember the last time somebody did something crappy to you? Whether it was a dirty old man or an ex who did you wrong, you probably thought of the perfect thing to say to that person — but only after the fact. By that time, it was too late. Or was it? In Hate Mail, m. m. garcia deftly spins eight tales of the wronged. These are stories of bad roommates, bad co-workers, and bad friends, told with dark humor and pathos. Each story is accompanied by a card that expresses the anger of each protagonist. With Hate Mail, it’s never too late to say exactly what you’re thinking.

A pleasurably crude collection of rants and wisdom, sure to prompt guffaws, smiles, and nods of sympathy. Hate Mail is interactive on so many levels, inviting you to not only relate to the terribly amusing situations, but to also become physically connected to the book. The fonts have personality, red raw cursive scrawled atop blocky weathered caps, while the page layout is like a perverted version of those corny notecard collections you see for sale in Hallmark stores. Best of all, the end of each story literally unfolds as each Hate Mail card delivers the perfect quip to sum up the protagonist's frustration, shock, and amusement. Punchy and tantalizing right from the first line, Hate Mail is above all empowering for anyone who has ever been pressured into holding her tongue.

This book is laugh out loud hilarious! It's clever, sardonic and completely unique. M.M. Garcia has the courage to say what most of us lack the courage to say in situations that are just WRONG.

This is my favorite gift book- it's definitely a conversation piece.
