The best thing about this book is that it not only inspires you to get out and be active but Scott throws in history and Geology which makes discovering the endless delights the Columbia River Gorge has to offer that much better. His writing style makes you feel like you have an expert tour guide right there with you, only this tour guide is loads of fun! He throws in great features like a list of what time of year each hike is at it's best and then that same list one more time on the next page which he challenges you to rip right out of the book and put on your fridge to remind yourself all year long of what you could be out there enjoying.
This book is a treasure!

I am a mother of a 5 year old and a 1 year old....and we love this book! Scott does a great job giving enough details and ratings to help us determine which hikes are appropriate for the whole family, or just the adults. We also use ours as a journal documenting the date of visit and those who went. There is also helpful tidbits of information that allow one to experience salmon swimming/jumping up stream, the best wildflowers of the gorge and views views views! This book is perfect for both the young and old. It also makes for a great gift!
