Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

Kevin Sampsell's largest and most ambitious collection to date, Creamy Bullets, captures the Portland author at the top of his game. Collecting everything from stunning flash fiction to his hilarious and intense longer stories, Sampsell's latest is a highlight reel of his uncollected work from the past ten years.

Review:

"I am a huge Kevin Sampsell fan. He's a gifted storyteller and canny observor of the world who writes with enormous sensitivity, innovation, and humor. These stories have the same powerful effect on me as all of my favorite art — they make me feel things deeply." Davy Rothbart, FOUND Magazine and This American Life

Review:

"With Creamy Bullets, Kevin Sampsell has created a weirdly sexual but wholly believable universe in just the briefest of words. Each story is a savory gem, capturing the gripping little deviant moments in life. " Jami Attenberg, author of The Kept Man

Review:

"Kevin Sampsell writes with great energy and grace about the hurt, the semi-hurt, the sordid and the downright deranged. Creamy Bullets is full of wonders, and all the best kinds of tenderness and danger." Sam Lipsyte, author of Home Land

Review:

"With Creamy Bullets, Kevin Sampsell has created a weirdly sexual but wholly believable universe in just the briefest bursts of words. Each story is a savory gem, capturing the gripping little deviant moments in life. Get off on his characters, those working class anti-heroes that roam the Pacific Northwest, or get off on his tight-like-your-uncle's-wallet prose — you can't lose with this book." Jami Attenberg, author of The Kept Man

Review:

"Piece by piece and as a whole, this is a rewarding and revealing collection....Here is ample proof of the value of work coming from the supposed fringes represented by the small presses in America." The Oregonian (Portland, OR)
