About the Author

andlt;bandgt;Robb Wolfandlt;/bandgt; possesses the unique perspective of both scientist and personal trainer at NorCal Strength and Conditioning. Robb is an NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, a USAW Olympic Weightlifting coach and a certified CrossFit Coach. Robb worked as a research biochemist for 5 years, and did Paleolithic Diet research with Prof. Loren Cordain of Colorado State University and author of the book andlt;iandgt;The Paleo Dietandlt;/iandgt;. Very interesting read. Wolf really tries to build a bigger picutre of what a modern paleo diet should lok like while giving you enouh detail and science about why our modern grain-dairy heavy diet is harmful. This wws recommemded to me because of a recent autoimmune diagnosis, so I am going to give Wolf the 30 days he asks for, eating his way. For me, trying is the only way to see if his diet suggestions will make me more healthy. I recommend reading with a healthy level of skeptocism...but also an open mind about how our bodies respond to the foods we feed upon.

Everyone has a diet book these days. High this, low that, balance this with that, etc. THIS way of eating makes sense for several reasons:

1. In evolutionary terms, our genes are nearly identical with those early humans that were living in caves and subsisting on the food they could kill or gather from the local flora.
2. The science of digestion/food absorption says that grains and legumes are particularly equipped to cause us problems.
3. Simple carbohydrates are the cause of insulin spikes that are the cause of nearly all fat/weight issues.

Wolf is a bit snarky in his writing, but this made me want to read more. The narrative did not get boring, except for a couple of places where the science went a bit over my head.

I have been on his prescribed plan for two weeks now, lost quite a few pounds, and feel better than I have for about 25 years. If you need to find a lifestyle of eating that is not only easy, but very natural and not such a far cry from what we eat anyway, just with elimination of certain foods and all processed foods, then this is definitely worth a read.
