To really appreciate the state of today's political environment one must review how we got here. Truth in power has eroded and this book describes how. Are we fully aware of JFK's deception during the Cuban Missile Crisis and how he secretly negotiated with the Russians? By taking a different public position he allowed the Cold War to unfold based on a lie. Likewise, the deception of LBJ in the Gulf of Tonkin began the debacle of the Viet Nam War. These former presidents are not blameless but having presided over more innocent times, they were not challenged by the majority. Over time, less and less honesty is expected. This book is a significant addition to the historical record and a very interesting read!
