Publisher Comments:

Obedient, devoted, and happy???that??'s what we all want our dogs to be. Brother Christopher and the monks of New Skete show you how to get there through the stories of eight dogs (including a Chihuahua. a bull dog, a golden retriever, and a poodle) who came to them with a few more lessons to learn. Divine Canine, a companion to the hit TV series on Animal Planet, walks you through all the basics of dog obedience from the unique perspective of the monks??? inspired approach. & nbsp; The monks believe that every dog can be a well-trained dog, so each chapter offers practical guidance on how readers can get their dog to heel, sit, stay, come, and lie down without a second thought. Divine Canine also gives readers a deeper understanding of the special bond that can exist between human and animal when the relationship is a two-way street of devotion and love. Page by page the reader will follow the daily routines of Brother Christopher and the other monks as they work with their own adorable German shepherd puppies on the 500-acre monastic grounds in the lush rolling countryside of upstate New York. And they???ll learn how the monks turned eight specially chosen dogs???each representing a specific training essential or problem behavior???into loving and obedient companions for their previously frustrated human families. Divine Canine is unique among dog-training books, one whose lessons will resonate far beyond the food dish and water bowl.

As an obedience/gate trainer of Canines myself; I'm always looking to gleen tips, tricks, and trade marks from others. This book has just that: excellent training techniques for the new canine owner and the advanced trainer as well.
Good insights and well written....A MUST read!
