Give Me Liberty: A Handbook for American Revolutionaries

by Naomi Wolf

Give Me Liberty: A Handbook for American Revolutionaries Cover

Staff Pick

In Give Me Liberty, author Naomi Wolf follows up her 2007 must-read The End of America: A Letter of Warning to a Young Patriot with a handbook designed to teach each of us how to take back our democracy.

As we citizens yield more of our rights to a government that is becoming more fascist than democratic, Wolf strikes a battle cry and demonstrates how individual citizens can take back our collective freedom. She reminds us that we are duty-bound as citizens to be active participants in restoring our democracy, and she shows us how to honor our founders with a renewed commitment to the Bill of Rights and Constitution.

Wolf's writing is intelligent, well documented, and hopeful. Anyone fed up with or jaded by the current state of our political process should read this and Wolf's previous book, End of America. You'll be enlightened, educated, and given tools to change our future.

Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

As the practice of democracy becomes a lost art, Americans are increasingly desperate for a restored nation. Many have a general sense that the system is in disorder — if not on the road to functional collapse. But though it is easy to identify our political problems, the solutions are not always as clear.

In Give Me Liberty: A Handbook for American Revolutionaries, bestselling author Naomi Wolf illustrates the breathtaking changes that can take place when ordinary citizens engage in the democratic system the way the founders intended and tells how to use that system, right now, to change your life, your community, and ultimately, the nation.

Review:

"Give Me Liberty is a splendid introduction to the historical meaning of American citizenship — and the challenge of sustaining its promise in a new century." — Bruce Ackerman, Sterling Professor of Law and Political Science, Yale University

Review:

"[A] primer on how to become a citizen activist" — Suki Casanave, The Washington Post

Review:

"A passionate, practical guidebook to reclaiming and reinvigorating participatory democracy." — Dennis J. Seese, Library Journal

Synopsis:

From an icon in the contemporary feminist movement and a well-respected political commentator comes this clear, accessible handbook about how to understand and use democracy.

While a strong argument can be made that many people are sensing a loss of power, Naomi Wolf points it out well, there is much people can do to reclaim their choices and make life the best-Give me Liberty!

Naomi Wolf is a leader in the truest sense of the word.
She inspires, educates and directs us to find America. The one in our hearts, and the one our founders created.
"A handbook for the American Revolutionary " will guide me to the next step, show me how to save my country and my life from those that will direct me toward fear and black shirts. Brave, eloquent and wise, she is the ACLU in action and she is encouraging me to be the same.
I am ready as one friend asked, to take this revolution to the streets.
Bravo, Naomi Wolf and thank you for giving me a first class ticket to MY America.
