Publisher Comments:

Thirteen-year-old Jonah has always known that he was adopted, and he's never thought it was any big deal. Then he and a new friend, Chip, who's also adoped, begin receiving mysterious letters. The first one says, "You are one of the missing." The second one says, "Beware! They're coming back to get you."

Jonah, Chip, and Jonah's sister, Katherine, are plunged into a mystery that involves the FBI, a vast smuggling operation, an airplane that appeared out of nowhere — and people who seem to appear and disappear at will. The kids discover they are caught in a battle between two opposing forces that want very different things for Jonah and Chip's lives.

Do Jonah and Chip have any choice in the matter? And what should they choose when both alternatives are horrifying?

With Found, Margaret Peterson Haddix begins a new series that promises to be every bit as suspenseful as her Shadow Children series — which has sold more than 41/2 million copies — and proves her, once again, to be a master of the page-turner.

Synopsis:

One night a plane appears out of nowhere, the only passengers aboard: 36 babies. As soon as they are taken off the plane, they vanish. Now, 13 years later, two of those children are receiving sinister messages, and they begin to investigate their past.

Synopsis:

Tory Brennan, niece of acclaimed forensic anthropologist Temperance Brennan (of the Bones novels and hit TV show), is the leader of a ragtag band of teenage "sci-philes" who live on a secluded island off the coast of South Carolina. When the group rescues a dog caged for medical testing on a nearby island, they are exposed to an experimental strain of canine parvovirus that changes their lives forever.

As the friends discover their heightened senses and animal-quick reflexes, they must combine their scientific curiosity with their newfound physical gifts to solve a cold-case murder that has suddenly become very hot-if they can stay alive long enough to catch the killer's scent. Fortunately, they are now more than friends: They are a pack. They are Virals.

Synopsis:

One night a plane appeared out of nowhere, the only passengers aboard: thirty-six babies. As soon as they were taken off the plane, it vanished. Now, thirteen years later, two of those children are receiving sinister messages, and they begin to investigate their past. Their quest to discover where they really came from leads them to a conspiracy that reaches from the far past to the distant future—and will take them hurtling through time. In this exciting new series, bestselling author Margaret Peterson Haddix brings an element of suspense that will keep readers on the edge of their seats.

In Found by Haddix, Jonah and his friend Chip both know they are adopted, and when they begin receiving mysterious letters that say, “You are one of the missing,” and, “Beware! They are coming back to get you,” things become difficult. Jonah and Chip start to question their past and their heritage, as well as their future. When strange things continue happening to both of the boys, Jonah and Chip wonder if the occurrences are really about their birth parents, or something more. The book’s plot is like no other, it is intricate and well thought out, which is my favorite characteristic of the author. However, during some parts of this book, I would hold off on reading because it got very uninteresting. I found myself wanting to stop reading all together. It was lacking in word choice and suspense at times, and I do not think it was intended for older teens. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing; younger children could have easily enjoyed the story. The only parts that I liked were the fight scenes at the end, because these provided the most entertainment, and it wasn’t enough of a cliff hanger to make me keep reading the series. I wish I had read this book sooner because I love the author’s other work, but I was disappointed that this was for a lower level age group. I would definitely recommend Found to nine and ten-year-olds, and any of Haddix’s other books to everyone.

"I wonder if thee are good turkey legs in 1805?" Found is written by Margret Peterson Haddix. This book is terribly exciting when the main characters are taken and outside of time. A fight broke out in the cave and everyone was scared. When I was reading this I felt tension along with excitement and fear because a powerful and dangerous weapon is shot into the ceiling. The gun was described as shooting out lightning, Which really caught my eye! I think the author wrote this book for teens and really young adults because the characters seem to cuss a lot. I loved this book because of the excitement and comedy and I have and will continue to recommend this book to any of my friends.
