Publisher Comments:

There's a serial killer on the loose in Los Angeles and the local authorities need help fast. For some reason the killer has been leaving a string of maddeningly arcane clues at each crime scene. Each of these clues, it seems, is an indecipherable roadmap to the next murder.

Onto the scene comes L, the mysterious super-sleuth. Despite his peculiar working habits - he's never shown his face in public, for example - he's the most decorated detective in the world and has never tackled a cased he hasn't been able to crack.

But this time he needs help.

Enlisting the services of an FBI agent named Naomi Misora, L starts snooping around the City of Angels. It soon becomes apparent that the killing spree is a psychotic riddle designed specifically to engage L in a battle of wits. Stuck in the middle between killer and investigator, it's up to Misora to navigate both the dead bodies and the egos to solve the Los Angeles BB Murder Cases.

Synopsis:

There’s a killer loose in Los Angeles and super-sleuth L is on the case. Along with Naomi, a former FBI agent, he helps the LA police solve the grisly crimes. In typical Death Note fashion, things get complicated. And there’s a big surprising plot twist at the end of the book.

I would recommend reading this book before the Death Note series.

This, like all Death Note stories, was extraordinarily well thought out, with superb character development. As all characters in Death Note, everyone had their quirks, which are always surprisingly lovable.

The twist at the end really got me, but going back, I can't believe that I didn't see it sooner. Death Note has a knack of doing that, but this is the finest example of it.

Great book - one of the best spin-off books I've read!

This book was in the category of those books that one cannot put down for the life of them.. It was ingenious, to say the least.. In the series, I wasn't necessarily fond of the character Mello, but his small part in this book as the narrator made me look at him in a different light. I enjoyed the twist in this book! Oh, I adore how L gets his aliases... even Ryuzaki.. haha, this book is amazing. I most definitely recommend it! ..If read, you will have no regrets. ;D It is so very clever; I tell you no lies. :]
