Publisher Comments:

Saba has spent her whole life in Silverlake, a dried-up wasteland ravaged by constant sandstorms. The Wrecker civilization has long been destroyed, leaving only landfills for Saba and her family to scavenge from. That's fine by her, as long as her beloved twin brother Lugh is around. But when four cloaked horsemen capture Lugh, Saba's world is shattered, and she embarks on a quest to get him back.

Suddenly thrown into the lawless, ugly reality of the outside world, Saba discovers she is a fierce fighter, an unbeatable survivor, and a cunning opponent. Teamed up with a handsome daredevil named Jack and a gang of girl revolutionaries called the Free Hawks, Saba's unrelenting search for Lugh stages a showdown that will change the course of her own civilization.

Blood Red Road has a searing pace, a poetic writing style, and an epic love story — making Moira Young one of the most exciting new voices in teen fiction.

Review:

"Young's powerful debut, first in the Dustlands series, is elevated above its now familiar postapocalyptic setting by an intriguing prose style and strong narrative voice that show a distinct Cormac McCarthy vibe. It's a natural for Hunger Games fans." Publishers Weekly (Starred Review)

Review:

"Blood Red Road will capture any reader who picks it up. I love everything about Saba — her language, her intensity, her heart. Everyone should read her story. James Dashner, author of The Maze Runner

Review:

"I absolutely loved Blood Red Road. What a great read! Moira Young goes over the top with a most engaging heroine. Saba is a crusty, foul-tempered warrior woman who must be covered in scar tissue by the end of the book, but men still follow her around like starving wolves. The dialogue is fast and often humorous, the pace never lets up. No situation is so bad that it can't get worse in the next couple of pages. I especially liked the awakening of the hellwurms as they emerge to feed. Well done, Ms. Young! Nancy Farmer, author of The House of the Scorpion

Review:

"Better than The Hunger Games....This book will blow you away." MTV's Hollywood Crush blog

Review:

"Is it any surprise that Ridley Scott swiftly optioned the book?" New York Times Book Review

Review:

"Blood Red Road is an eerie and adventurous dystopian fantasy on par with Suzanne Collins' The Hunger Games and Paolo Bacigalupi's Ship Breaker." LA Times

Even though i would say it has been a good year since i read this horrid book. I just had to review. Now i personally found this book so boring and dull i had to take a day break before i could start again. And gosh was it hard.

I guess some parts were exciting, but more often then not, i was bored out of my friekin mind.

I would say you should try, because judging on the other comments so far they seem ed o like it, so it just may be me.

But to say at the lest i would rather swallow a cricket(even though i heard that they are extremely good) before i read this story again. But i guess it depends in you and how you think you might like it.

Cinematic. The storytelling and characterizations of John Ford's The Searchers combined with the visual surprises of Mad Max, especially Beyond Thunder Dome. Rousing good read.

Blood Red Road is a fabulous piece of dystopian fiction. Moira Young's first novel is packed with action and adventure; there's no slowing down once young Saba sets off on her journey! Saba's twin brother is kidnapped and in order to get him back she'll have to cross the dessert, protect her little sister Emmi, and most importantly, survive. There are so many obvious reasons to pick up this novel: it's dystopian, it's original, and most of all, it's intriguing. Young's writing style is fluid and the narration flows evenly, even though the characters have a peculiar way of speaking. The way the characters express themselves is so real and humorous that you'll find yourself feeling as part of the conversation or action.

The suspense of Blood Red Road is subtle, but there are little movements, looks between characters or phrases, that gives you the feeling that there's more to the story than Young is giving. Saba's world is set in the future where cities lie abandoned and technology is but a novelty from the time of the Wreckers. It's revealed that people are ruled by a ruthless king who has the monopoly on a highly addictive drug and the world is incredibly dangerous. Saba's task is daunting, but her strength and stubbornness leads one to believe that she can handle anything.

Saba is a female protagonist readers love to root for. She's fiercely independent, not always right, but you love to watch her grow into a better person. Saba's journey is physical and emotional and it takes the people she meets along that journey to help her through it all. Dust Lands is a series worth continuing because there's so much more to discover and Saba surely has an exciting future.
