Synopses & ReviewsPublisher Comments:An anthology of poetry by young people, edited by superstar poet and author of The Dead Emcee Scrolls and ,said the shotgun to the head, Saul Williams.
Hundreds of poets, artists, and writers give Saul Williams their work, hoping that he will read it and perhaps help them on their journey. Now, Williams fulfills the dreams of aspiring poets by collecting their work in an anthology of up-and-coming poets, curated and guided by Williams. A Renaissance man, Williams is a superstar poet, actor, musician, and writer. But with this anthology, he focuses his talents on helping future generations get their start. As Williams says, “My goal is to create an important book that connects varied voices into a cohesive work of art that stands out as a generational testament of our times.” Chorus feature the writings of young street poets, students, and outsiders, and will serve as the definitive handbook for all artists who seek confirmation of their creative visions and outlook. Synopsis:CHORUS is the anthem of a new generation of poets unified by the desire to transcend the identity politics of the day and begin to be seen as one. One hundred voices woven through testimony and new testament. It is the cry of the unheard. The occupation of the page itself. It embodies the “speak-up” spirit of the moment, the confidence propagated through hip-hop, and the defiant “WTF?” of the now. It is the voice that comes after the rebellious voice that once cried, “I want my MTV!” branded back to where punk was, slammed up and beyond it. A combination of trash, heart, and craft. An anthology in rant.
CHORUS is what all modern-day losers chant. About the AuthorSaul Williams received his B.A. in acting and philosophy from Morehouse College in Atlanta, and his Masters in acting from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. He co-wrote and starred in the Cannes and Sundance award-winning film Slam; he was also featured in the documentaries Slam Nation, Underground Voices, and I'll Make Me A World.
