The Prints of Josef Albers: A Catalogue Raisonne, 1915-1976 Cover

Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

Josef Albers (1888-1976) was one of the great abstract artists of the twentieth century, as well as one of its most important teachers, influencing generations of artists with his color theories. Born in Germany and a leading figure at the Bauhaus, he settled permanently in the United States at the end of 1933.

This volume provides a comprehensive record of the entire graphic oeuvre of this "addictive maker of prints", some 350 editions in an extraordinarily diverse range of mediums, from the intensely colored, iconic "Homage to the Square" screenprints to pure white minimalist embossed intaglios. Also included are a comprehensive biographical essay, bibliography, chronology, lists of exhibitions and collections, and index.

Synopsis:

This volume provides a comprehensive record of the entire graphic oeuvre of this addictive maker of prints.
