About the Author

Rabbi Michael Lerner was mentored by Abraham Joshua Heschel at the Jewish Theological Seminary in New York. He received a Ph.D. in philosophy (ethics and political philosophy) from the University of California, Berkeley in 1972 and a Ph.D. in social/clinical psychology from the Wright Institute in Berkeley in 1977. Since then he has served as director of the Institute for Labor and Mental Health, Dean of the Graduate School of Psychology at New College of California, and founder of Beyt Midrash le'Shelom in Jerusalem. He was he co-founder of TIKKUN Magazine and has served as the editor since its inception in 1986.
