Calling this a book about lesbianism is remarkably narrow. Alison Bechdel's piercing observation of a group of friends over years of cohabitation, obsession, political correctness, infidelity, existential crisis and of course, picking up sailors, is an enduring graphic classic, and once you start, you can't eat just one. I started with AB from watching Mo play thirdbase on a DTWOF calendar in the late eighties, and haven't missed a strip since. You cannot go wrong with DTWOF, wherever you start.
