Fables & Reflections is the sixth volume in the saga of The Sandman.

Follow Morpheus, the Lord of Dreams, from the mists of the past to the nightmares of the present as he touches the lives of Haroun Al Raschid, king of ancient Baghdad; Lady Johanna Constantine, spy and adventuress; Joshua Norton, self-styled Emperor of the United States; as well as ravens, actors, explorers, storytellers, werewolves, and children in nine remarkable stories that will take you beyond your wildest imaginings.

Review:

"As rich with potential as L. Frank Baum's Oz....Displays a refreshing amount of wit and compassion." Michael Berry, San Francisco Examiner & Chronicle

This is probably my favorite of the collections of shorter Sandman stories. The story of Orpheus reimagined as part of the Sandman mythos is lovely and sad -- I've always found the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice to be one of the most heartbreaking tales of all time. There isn't a weak story in this collection, but the real crowning glory is "Ramadan," which is drawn to absolute perfection by P. Craig Russel. I consider this to be one of the best marriages of words and art that I've ever seen in a comic.
