Jesse, Tulip and Cassidy head down South in this eye-opening collection, reprinting PREACHER #27-33 and PREACHER SPECIAL: CASSIDY - BLOOD AND WHISKEY. As our intrepid band recovers from the battle with the forces of the Grail, Jesse decides to unlock the secrets of his subconscious, Cassidy decides to declare his secret affections for Tulip, and Arseface comes after Jesse in search of revenge. None of their plans work out like they expected. In addition, DIXIE FRIED features the story of Cassidy's first and only encounter with another vampire from the popular CASSIDY - BLOOD AND WHISKEY one-shot.

Synopsis:

This might actually be my favorite of the series so far; the flashback to Cassidy's first visit to New Orleans (and his encounter with a vampire of the Anne Rice persuasion) is HILARIOUS, even as it paves the way for a more tragic encounter later on. Since Cassidy is my favorite character in the series, this collection left me tingling with anticipation and foreboding -- is Cassidy really as much of an a**hole as he seems? Is the friendship between Jesse, Tulip, and Cassidy heading for a firey crash? Excellent storytelling, as always. Plus it contains the lines: "Are you afraid of snakes?" "Only if they're dressed as werewolves."
