The Little Blues Book Cover

Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

This little book transcends geographical, social, and economic boundaries to search the heart and soul of the blues, looking for rules to live by, hope for the downtrodden, cautionary tales for the good times, and truths that "hurt so good". Sometimes, you just gotta be blue. But, as this book goes to show, that's okay--because you're never alone.

Synopsis:

Illustrations by R. Crumb. A collection of lyrics and lore that captures the very heart and soul of the blues. From Blind Lemon Jefferson to Alberta Hunter, dozens of blues masters offer words of wisdom on subjects including luck (both good and bad), love, loss, and the raw material of life.

Great little book -- open it to any page and it takes you right in -- A really terrific history of the blues with tons of great blues lines and stories. As Mr. Robertson says: . . . the great blues singers are America's Zen masters.

If you love the blues you'll love this little book : )
