Knitting Everyday Finery: Practical Designs for Dressing Up in Little Ways Cover

Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

The word "finery" is often associated with jewels, silk, and lace. Hip knitwear designer Mel Clark says it means something else to her, something infinitely more practical and more accessible: clothes or accessories that you can wear or use every day, even though they are packed with enough "wow factor" to grab the eyes of others—and inspire their envy! You'll feel and look fabulous when you don one of Mel's designs, just like you do when you "dress your best." Projects in this easy-to-follow, step-by-step instructional book include much of "what's hot" and even "what could be" in the seasons to come. Theres a little something for everyone—from the ever useful giant cowl to a "heroine hood" and "strawberry beret"; from cuffs and mitts to short-shorts and tangerine-colored tights; from purses and totes to shawls and slippers. With sections dedicated to going out, dressing up, and staying home, knitters are certain to find each of these projects a joy to make and immensely satisfying to keep or give.

Synopsis:

The word “finery” is often associated with jewels, silk, and lace. Knitwear designer Mel Clark says it means something different to her: clothes or accessories you can wear or use every day, packed with enough “wow” factor to catch the eyes of others. And thats exactly what this fashionable selection of projects provides! With sections dedicated to going out, dressing up, and staying in, knitters are sure to find each of these patterns a joy to make.

Synopsis:

Quick-to-finish projects are always popular with knitters and this collection of patterns features beautiful finery to wear and for the home. Modern and inventive yet inspired by traditional techniques, the designs presented here include elements of style and whimsy but are always practical and achievable for all levels of knitting ability. A clutch made of multicolored wool with the entrelac technique, a double-layered beanie with inspired color work, a quilt-sampler tam with Fair Isle patterning, and a pencil case for kids in the shape of a small dog are just some of the finery that can be created. Elegant items for women, several projects for men, and ideas for the whole family are included and are achievable for all levels of knitting ability.
