Publisher Comments:

An all-new book from Tomi Ungerer, "Flix" is rich with the author's fatuously unique sense of humor, which he uses to teach children to respect diverse cultures. The story begins by introducing Mr. Zeno Krall, a happy cat who lives in Cat Town with his wife, Colza. He is even happier when his wife announces that she is expecting. The glorious day soon comes, and Mr. Krall is beside himself when told that he Is the father of a baby boy. But when he finds out that the boy is not a cat, but a dog, he collapses in a state of confusion.

"How can this be? What shall we do? What will the neighbors say?" says Mr. Krall. "Love him, he is ours", his wife replies — and so they do. The ultimate result of a youthful romance by his great-grandmother with a pug dog, the baby pug is named "Flix". and he grows up good-humored. smart, and kind. He learns to speak Cat and do all the things cats cat) do, but he is taunted by tough little kittens for being different. When he uses his swimming skills to save a cat from drowning, "Flix" is finally accepted into the community.

"Flix" marries a poodle, and his happiest day is when his wife gives birth to their first girl — a cute little pussycat!

A wonderfully illustrated and warmhearted tale, this is Tomi Ungerer's first new children's picture book in over 20 years!
