Tonight is the first event for the new book, and I've spent most of the afternoon at home with curlers in my hair and cucumber circles on the eyes...

Making Contact for Physical, Emotional, and Spiritual Growth
Like food and water, touch and intimacy are basic human needs. As naked and vulnerable newborns, we thrive on skin-to-skin contact with other humans. Yet somewhere between infancy and adulthood, this fulfilling nourishment from touch is virtually lost. In today's high-tech world, most of us are more comfortable connecting with each other through machines and modems than our own skin. Yet for optimum health, we all need to touch-- and be touched.
Partner Yoga can be practiced with a friend, lover, gym buddy-- even your child. It can be practiced indoors, outdoors, in a group-- even on a beach.
Partner Yoga is a bold, new step in the evolution of yoga. With their 30 years of combined experience in yoga, medicine, fitness, dance, the martial arts, and music, Cain Carroll and Lori Kimata, N.D., have developed a totally new yoga practice that blends mutually beneficial postures, conscious breathing, trust, communication, and-- most of all-- playfulness and fun.
The 60 dynamic postures and 3 yoga flows introduced in this book offer a threshold into a provocative and exciting yoga experience. Developed with reverence for the ancient tradition of yoga, these beautiful postures are designed to help improve balance, strength, and flexibility as well as increase the level of trust and communication between you and your partner. Partner Yoga is perfect for anyone-- novice or seasoned yoga practitioner-- who is interested in increasing fitness, releasing tension, strengthening relationships, and having a good time. So find a partner and explore the possibilities!

Synopsis:
This evolutionary new yoga practice expands health and physical benefits through partnership
Partner Yoga represents the next wave in yoga. Traditionally a solitary practice, authors Cain Carroll and Dr. Lori Kimata have developed a completely new kind of yoga that utilizes strength and flexibility of two people. While taking root in traditional yoga practice, Partner Yoga postures will feel completely different than if performed alone. And Partner Yoga is not limited to one type of partnership, with specific poses for parents and children, expectant couples, groups, friends, and whole families.
For each beautifully-photographed position, the authors explain the purpose of the pose, the technique for achieving the pose, the individual steps, the benefits of each pose, and "partner pointers" on how to best experience the posture, as well as any necessary precautions. Partner Yoga will expand yoga practice for seasoned yoga participants, yet is accessible to novices as well, integrating mental, emotional, and spiritual growth through physical exploration in partnership.

This book and my experience with partner yoga have changed my life in many wonderful ways. The authors are incredibly creative and holistic in their approach to teaching this practice that they have discovered. The benefits of exposing myself to this practice in this way have been multileveled and far-reching. I also was able to attend a 'playshop' hosted by the authors, concurrent to the material in the book, and highly recommend trying this out with a room full of others! I will always have a copy, and it's a fun gift as well.
