About the Author

Michelle Tea is the author of four memoirs, including the Lambda-award winning Valencia and the illustrated Rent Girl, which is currently being developed for television. Rose of No Man's Land is her first novel.

This is my favorite of Michelle Tea's books. It has her signature plainspoken, confessional punk prose, but here she employs her style to illuminate a working class childhood rather than some uber-cool grrl scene (not that there's anything wrong with uber-cool grrl scenes). One of the most realistic accounts of kid-thinking that I've read.
