Looks like a very good book for the new mead maker like me. Being a phamicist author of this book really sold me on looking to purchase this book. Understanding the chemistry should add a lot to advance the technical aspects of mead making. I have been doing research on mead making and it has so many approaches and techniques from the 1200's to present day you don't know what to really do or not do.
