About the Author

Joseph Wheelan, a former Associated Press reporter and editor, is the author of Invading Mexico: Americaand#8217;s Continental Dream and the Mexican War, 1846and#150;1848; Jeffersonand#8217;s War: Americaand#8217;s First War on Terror, 1801and#150;1805; and Jeffersonand#8217;s Vendetta: The Pursuit of Aaron Burr and the Judiciary. He lives in Cary, North Carolina.
