Succulent plants are easy to grow and design with once you know the basics. And Debra Lee Baldwin, the bestselling author of Designing with Succulents and Succulent Container Gardens, is the ideal guide for gardeners, crafters, and DIYers looking for an introduction to these trendy, low-maintenance plants.

Succulents Simplified is a complete primer on choosing, growing and designing with succulents. Along with gorgeous photos packed with design ideas, Debra offers her top 100 plant picks and explains how to grow and care for succulents no matter where you live. Step-by-step projects, including a cake-stand centerpiece, special-occasion bouquets, a vertical garden, and a succulent topiary sphere, will inspire you to express your individual style.

Whether you're a novice or veteran, have an acre to fill or a few pots, live in Calexico or Canada, Succulents Simplified is a dazzling primer for success with succulents wherever you live!

About the Author

Debra Lee Baldwin gardens on "an inhospitable half acre" in the foothills of southern California, where temperatures range from below freezing to 110 degrees F. As a garden photojournalist and scout for major magazines, she developed an appealing and sophisticated design aesthetic; as a hands-on gardener, she knows what works and what doesn't. In addition to writing and illustrating articles, books, and blog posts and giving presentations at major flower-and-garden shows, Debra shares her passion for plants that drink responsibly via seasonal newsletters, workshops, YouTube videos, and social media such as Facebook. Find out what she's up to and where she'll be at debraleebaldwin.com.

Debra Lee Baldwin manages to be informative, entertaining and funny describing the plants she holds such passion for. I picked this book up expecting it to be dry and was surprised to find myself drawn in and excited to read more about these unique plants. What really makes this book stand out is how simply she describes the growth and care for succulents. Before reading this I was intimidated to try gardening, but now I am growing some mosaic aloe of my own!

While I do have Debra Lee Baldwin's other book, "Succulent Container Gardens", I would suggest reading "Succulents Simplified" first if you are just starting out growing succulents. I think it is a much easier book to follow and to stay interested in without becoming discouraged from gardening them yourself. Debra Lee Baldwin does a great job making these plants accessible to her readers and her ability to teach well from a book is inspiring.
