Avid biker and experienced travel writer Ann Marie Brown knows the best places to cycle in Northern California, from steep ocean-front rides to meandering, scenic trails through Sonoma and Napa. Moon Northern California Biking guides seasoned riders and beginning bikers to the best trails, paths, and roads throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, Tahoe, Yosemite, and Northern California wine country. Complete with elevation charts, route maps, and options to extend or shorten each route, as well as information on bike shops, riding clubs, and bike organizations throughout the region, Moon Northern California Biking gives bicyclists the tools they need to create a more personal and memorable experience.
About the Author
Ann Marie Browns love of bicycling began at age 2, when she commandeered her older sisters tricycle down the steepest stretch of her familys driveway and had her first experience with road rash.” She pedaled her first century tour at age 15, although the ride ended prematurely at mile 82 when her brakes failed on a steep descent in the rain. Fortunately, her bruises quickly healed, and her loving parents chipped in to buy her a new set of wheels. Ann Marie has been falling off one bike or another at regular intervals ever since. (She prefers the term involuntary dismount.”)
Ann Marie hikes, camps, and bikes more than 150 days each year. She is the author of 13 books with Moon, including several outdoors titles—Moon 101 Great Hikes of the San Francisco Bay Area, Moon California Waterfalls, and Moon Bay Area Biking —and is the co-author of California Hiking with Tom Stienstra. Her work has also appeared in Sunset, VIA, and California magazines.
