Publisher Comments:

Erin Van Rheenen has made the move to Costa Rica herself, and in Moon Living Abroad Costa Rica, she uses her know-how to provide insight and firsthand advice on navigating the language and culture of this beautiful country. Erin outlines all the information you need—including how to obtain visas, arrange finances, set up your daily life, gain employment, and choose schools—in a smart, organized, and straightforward manner, making planning the move abroad manageable. Moon Living Abroad Costa Rica also includes practical advice for a variety of needs and budgets on how to rent or buy a home, whether its a condo in the San José suburb of Escazú, a wooden house in coastal Tortuguero, or a mountain retreat with a view of Arenal Volcano.

With color and black and white photos, illustrations, and maps to help you find your bearings, Moon Living Abroad Costa Rica makes the transition process easy for tourists, business people, adventurers, students, teachers, professionals, families, couples, and retirees looking to relocate.

About the Author

When Erin Van Rheenen was three years old, her parents moved the family from their native Oregon to Nigeria for a two-year Peace Corps stint. Since then, Erin has been fortunate to live outside the US for extended periods of time in Ireland, Ecuador, Mexico, and Guatemala. She answered Costa Rica's call in 2002, looking for a second home where she could put down roots. Currently she spends time in both California and Costa Rica.

Erin earned a BA in Latin American literature from the University of California at Santa Cruz, a Masters in fiction writing and English literature from the City University of New York, and a certificate of proficiency in Spanish from the Catholic University in Quito, Ecuador. She has published essays, stories, and articles in venues ranging from Fiction Magazine to Rome's Internazionale to the Los Angeles Times. Her writing has won several awards, and she was honored with inclusion in Best Womens Travel Writing 2012.
