Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

Bicycling and craft brew — it doesn't get more Portland, and for the first time, a guide marries these two worlds by linking the best beer spots with routes that explore the city's first-class cycling boulevards, bike-friendly streets, and quirky bike charm. This carefully curated exposé separates the status-quo, tourist ale trail from the hottest, off-the-beaten-track beer spots that make Portland world renowned. A total of 10 bike routes are included, featuring detailed maps and accompanying cue sheets for cyclists of any level, with options to extend each of the five brew tours into longer rides. Locals and visitors alike, from serious beer geeks to cycling aficionados, will want to slip this book into their jersey pockets and panniers as they uncover the city's booming beer scene.

Review:

"Portland is a mecca for many popular pursuits; chief among them, beer and biking. Lucy and Ellee's book captures the spirit of both of these with humor and adventure. This book is an invaluable guide for locals and visitors alike. It is packed with the routes, people and places that make this city a global destination for its bike culture and craft brewing." Jason French, chef and owner, Ned Ludd

Review:

"In a town bursting with bikes and beer, no one knows more about both scenes than writer Lucy Burningham. With her vast knowledge and experience surrounding the artisan bike culture and booming beer scene, Lucy has sipped, supped, and cycled her way around Portland for years, noting her favorite meals, beers, and bike paths along the way. Ride with Lucy and Ellee as they navigate you through the city's best of the best in this guide to Portland's food, drink, and cycle culture." Megan Flynn, editor and publisher, Beer West magazine

Review:

"Portland is loaded with so many beery destinations that even a longtime resident can become overwhelmed with options. Instead of taking a chance, follow Lucy to the choicest spots where the beer is top notch and the route is conveniently planned for you." Alex Ganum, founder and brew master, Upright Brewing
