Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

As the Pacific Northwest emerges as one of the US's leading producers of fine wines, Wines of the Pacific Northwest is the first book to be dedicated to the region's history, wine laws, terroir, viticulture, vinification, and producers. The main wine regions within Washington and Oregon are identified and described, and maps locate the wine-producing areas and wineries within each region. The key influences on the wines are explored, with contemporary issues such as biodynamics, organic practices, and foreign investment considered in detail.

A comprehensive producer guide gives profiles on every significant producer, detailing all the key facts such as how many acres are in production, how many cases are produced each year and from which grape varieties they are made. Other useful details include the winemaking methods employed and other idiosyncratic influences affecting wine styles.

Throughout the book, beautiful colour photographs help guide the reader the the new and exciting regions of the Pacific Northwest.
