Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

Novelist Jamie S. Rich returns to Oni Press with a new prose novella illustrated by Andi Watson!

Hieronymus Zoo is a man no longer plagued by pain. He lives a life many dream about. His home is a serene island and his only companion is a loyal pooch. There's only one catch for this perfect existence. Horrible nightmares plague his sleeping hours and the only place he can find solace is on the beach — small price to pay, or at least it is until a monster arises from the sea. But is the monster real or just another machination of his mind?

Synopsis:

Hieronymus Zoo has fled civilization to live on his own private island, away from the stress, pain, and drama that come from associating with other people. His idyllic lifestyle is shattered, however, by the nightmares that plague his sleep, and a horrifying monster that rises threateningly from the sea. But is the monster real, or just another creation of his mind? And what will Hieronymus do when a very real woman ends up on the island with him? It could end in tears, or maybe in love... or maybe the end of everything they know.

About the Author

Have You Seen the Horizon Lately?, his third full-length novel, will be released by Oni Press in the summer of 2007. He regularly collaborates with artist Joelle Jones, including the Oni graphic novel 12 Reasons Why I Love Her and the short story "Reverberation (Doubt)" for Good Cat/Bad Cat's Alien Safeword. Their next book is 2007's hardboiled crime story You Have Killed Me.
