Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

Patrick Gass (1771-1870) was one of the best known members of the Corps of Discovery (1804-6). He was the first to publish an account of the expedition for a public hungry for information. His account went into several editions and was published in France and Germany.

The Paris edition of 1810 was issued with J. B. Tardieu's map. This is the first map published that mentions Lewis and Clark and literally puts Fort Clatsop on the map! We have a bright copy with map in original boards, skillfully rebacked.
