Synopses & ReviewsPublisher Comments:A QUE S! is a provocative post-intermediate Spanish conversation book that will motivate your students. Learners develop an important cultural awareness and build the confidence they need to express opinions through oral and written discussion on a variety of timely, personally relevant issues. The book's highly acclaimed thematic organization focuses on topics of general contemporary relevance, which help raise awareness and understanding of Hispanic and global issues. Each thematic unit is supported by creative activities and engaging authentic materials, including dozens of new selections in literature, journalism, films, songs, and cartoons. Review:A que sí is a comprehensive conversation book. It is well balanced in its incorporation of different skills and activities for the purpose of conversing in Spanish. The activities presented in this textbook overall are highly motivational, serve a clear purpose and are open to further exploration giving the teacher an opportunity for variety, flexibility and adaptability, depending on the class needs. The explanation of grammar in the workbook is clear and precise, which allows the student to have a solid base and allows the teacher to elaborate on specific grammatical points if necessary. Review:We chose A que sí precisely because of its timeliness, its accessibility to students, and the contemporary themes it presents. It is creative, upbeat, and engaging. Grammar is integrated into the text, which is a feature we were looking for. The texts are accessible, the topics are well-chosen, and the organization is well thought out. The authors have intelligently linked the themes to songs, films, and web material which provides excellent supplement to the already rich text. Review:Integration of films: 'My students enjoy this break from largely aural stimulus to a medium that includes rich visual cues as well. It breaks the learning routine and represents a kind of reality check on all of the culture the students have been assimilating. It also allows for a much wider range of native voices as they build competency in listening comprehension.' Synopsis:A QUE S!
