This book is an eye-opener. It challenges the 'conventional wisdom' that the government is erroding our privacy. So, if the government isn't responsible? Who is?

Noting that it was published in 1999, I feel that Dr. Whitaker's predictions have become timely and relevant. Highly recommended.
