Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

After carving up the once lovingly cared-for downtowns of Small Town America, Wal-Mart launched a frontal assault on mom-and-pop businesses all over the globe. With 1.5 million employees operating more than 3, 500 stores, Wal-Mart is now the world'¬'s largest private employer. In this third edition of How Wal-Mart Is Destroying America (and the World), intrepid Texas newspaperman Bill Quinn continues the fight. Featuring detailed accounts of Wal-Mart'¬'s questionable business practices and the latest information on Wal-Mart lawsuits, vendor issues, and efforts to stop expansion, Quinn shows why Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., is arguably the most feared and despised corporation in the world. Whether you'¬?re a customer fed up with Wal-Mart'¬'s false claims, a vendor squeezed by strong-arm tactics, a worker pushed to increase the Waltons'¬? bottom line, or a concerned citizen trying to save your hometown, this book will show you how to get Wal-Mart off your back and out of your backyard.BILL QUINN is a World War II veteran, retired newspaperman, and certified anti-Wal-Mart crusader. He lives with his wife, Lennie, in Grand Saline, Texas.

Synopsis:

Featuring "fight back" strategies, Quinn's original expose has been updated with new information. He says that dismantling the American dream wasn't enough for Wal-Mart, and that its recent acquisition of Britain's third-largest supermarket shows that the retail Goliath is now aiming for world domination.

Synopsis:

Since Wal-Mart opened two superstores thirteen miles from Grand Saline, Texas, half of the retail businesses in Bill Quinn's once-thriving hometown have closed. But dismantling the American dream wasn't enough for this retail Goliath, and now Wal-Mart is aiming for world domination. If you've ever wanted to fight for the little guy, now's the time — and this feisty Texas grandpa will show you how.

I truly enjoyed reading ths book-How Wal-Mart is Destroying America. I have worked for this company for 17 years and i have not seen or read anything in here to dispute what you have written. A friend and i have gotten the book the same time and she worked for walmart for awhile, and she has commented on the same things. We also purchased the book by John Dicker The United States of Wal-Mart, but i have noticed that until America people wake up-which they won't until it is too late-and something really drastically (sad to say), shakes them up, they will keep on believing in walmart, because they do not see in there eye's where they are going wrong by shopping or letting them build these stores in the community, and then once they build them, they feel like there is nothing they can do, so it is a catch 22. thank you for writing this book though, i truly enjoyed reading it. Linda
