Relative Dominance of Haloacetic Acids and Trihalomethanes in Drinking Water Cover

Synopses & Reviews

Book News Annotation:

Presents the results of a study conducted by the nonprofit water quality research organization, the AWWA Research Foundation. The study investigates and measures all four bromine- and chlorine- containing THM species (THM4, equivalent to what is typically referred to as TTHMs) and all nine bromine- and chlorine-containing HAAs. The project consisted of chlorination experiments on a variety of different waters under controlled laboratory conditions, measurements made in selected full-scale water treatment systems, and a comprehensive assessment of THM and HAA occurrence based on an analysis of the first 12 months of ICR data. Conclusions are covered in depth, with detailed monitoring and regulatory recommendations for water utilities.
