This title in other formats:Demonstration of Emerging Technologies for Arsenic Removalby Yu-jung Chang
Synopses & ReviewsPublisher Comments:This project addresses those technologies deemed most appropriate for small water systems to comply with the Jan '06 USEPA Arsenic Rule Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL). This volume reports on the bench-scale testing of of 4 technologies: ion-exchange processes, sorption kinetics, coupled sorbent-membrane processes and coupled coagulation-ballasted-sedimentation processes. Volume 2 will focus on results of the full-scale demonstration testing. Book News Annotation:In January 2006, some 4,000 drinking water utilities across the US
will be required to treat their source water to remove arsenic. This
report describes the work of a project dedicated to developing and
demonstrating those technologies thought to be most appropriate for
application to small systems where the treatment goal is limited to
arsenic reduction. This first of two volumes on the project reports
on bench-scale testing done in the developmental stages of several
newer technologies to define both their performance capabilities as
well as the appropriate operational test parameters that should be
considered when testing is scaled up for full-scale demonstration
purposes. It provides insight on fundamentals of the different
processes and detail on the chemistry of specific processes and
associated modeling approaches. There is no subject index.
