This project described in this book focused on developing distribution system water quality optimization plans (DSOPs) for 3 utilities, along with development of a template of best management practices and an outline for implementation that are applicable to utilities of any size . Coverage helps the reader determine if their system could benefit from a DSOP, prepare a customized audit used to plan a DSOP. Many example programs and practices are provided along with a CD of templates.

This report provides tools water utilities can use for improving programs that affect distribution system water quality, evaluating conditions within the distribution system, creating better documentation, and enhancing communication between the various utility functions that impact water quality in the distribution system.
