With a few exceptions (namely all things baby- or dog-related, and the spats on page 147), the projects in this book are things I would actually use, wear, or proudly display in my home... and each of them requires a mere 36 inches of fabric! Whether you're looking to downsize the ever-growing pile of leftover fabric in your craft space, or simply hoping to cut costs at the fabric store, One-Yard Wonders has the project for you.

Okay. I was browsing One-Yard Wonders here at the City of Books when a coworker who also sews grabbed it out of my hands. You know it's a good book when booksellers start battling over who gets it first. There are tons of so very nice and useful projects. What sewer doesn't have a pile of small pieces of fabric just waiting for the right prospects? Plus, One-Yard Wonders offers perfectly good reasons to buy just a yard of that yummy-but-expensive fabric you've been eyeing at the boutique fabric store. There is something here for every personality and for every level of sewing ability. I’m going to make the Origami Organizer — cute!

A sewing launch pad! I enjoyed the nice balance of instruction, inspiration and idea spurring. And the book design is fun, functional and approachable. There are many pictures, it is spiral bound, and there are even free standing patterns. The addition of the patterns makes the cost of the book a steal! I am an intermediate level sewer, give or take, and I found it easy to follow the directions for the 3 things that I have made from this book. I even picked up some new tips and was able to work from the ideas in the book to make my own modified design.

I completely agree with the recommendations. This book is stacked with great projects - not just one or two things you'd actually consider using/wearing/displaying. Great projects, (MANY of them) and detailed, helpful instructions.
