Who really discovered America? What was "the shot heard 'round the world"? Thomas Jefferson and Sally Hemings: Did he or didn't he?

From the arrival of Columbus through the bizarre election of 2000 and beyond, Davis carries readers on a rollicking ride through more than 500 years of American history. I was wandering through the store when I came across this book and thought - I don?t know nearly as much about the history of my country as I should. Don?t know much at all. I couldn't even name the original thirteen colonies. This is a book I can pick up anytime and read a little or read a lot. The writing is clear and concise and filled with interesting bits. Not just factoids but good reporting and explanations. The edition I have (2003) begins with Christopher Columbus and ends with an excerpt from the 2002 State of the Union address. The author includes ?must read? titles throughout the book for those who want more on the particular subject.
