Faith of My Fathersby John Mccain
Synopses & Reviews
Senator John McCain learned about life and honor from his grandfather and father, both four-star admirals in the U.S. Navy. Faith of My Fathers is about how their lessons enabled McCain to survive the greatest challenge of his life—when, as a naval aviator, he was shot down over Hanoi in 1967, seriously wounded, and imprisoned for more than five years.
Told with humility, grace, and humor, it is a story of three imperfect men who faced adversity—and emerged with their honor intact.
The extraordinary bestselling memoir of three generations of an American military family--including a harrowing account of John McCain's five years in a POW camp in Vietnam. John McCain is one of the most admired leaders in the United States government, but his deeply felt memoir is not a political one and ends before his election to Congress. With candor and ennobling power, McCain tells a story that, in the words of Newsweek, "makes the other presidential candidates look like pygmies."
About the Author
After a career in the U.S. Navy and two terms as a U.S. representative (1982-1986), John McCain was elected to the U.S. Senate in 1986 and re-elected in 1992 and 1998. He was a Republican candidate in the 2000 presidential campaign. Mark Salter has worked on Senator McCain's staff for eleven years, and has been his administrative assistant since 1993.
